The closing party for the 2016 HAA Conference was dubbed “A Taste of Melbourne”. Our design was for international guests who love good food and great music, with plenty of room to dance. This was the first year the event was a stand up cocktail rather than a traditional sit down dinner. This meant that there was an emphasis on an abundance of seating options both inside and outside. The event team also wanted to create a ‘Taste of Melbourne’ vibe to share some Melbournian culture with visiting international guests. Empire Red designed an event with a fresh twist on food stations, creating distinct ‘zones’ for the guests to experience.

Showtime at South Wharf was the perfect venue for this event. The outdoor space became an extension of the venue by creating a modern industrial style ‘beer garden’ with a pallet bar. The bar furniture was an industrial mix of drums and timber plinths as cocktail tables, with pops of colour in jam jars and tins. The space then merged into an ‘Asian Fusion’ Night Market complete with milk crate furniture and hanging lanterns.

Inside Showtime, the famous streets of Melbourne were featured. With Lonsdale Street as our Greek inspired food station and Lygon St for the delicious Italian menu. Layers of texture and colour brought these stations to life with the creative eye of our florist and stylist onsite.

“Everyone is buzzing this morning about how successful the dinner was. They loved the whole concept from start to finish and really enjoyed themselves! Can’t thank you enough for all your efforts across the board on this. It makes such a difference having people with great ideas and the follow through to make it happen!”
